Asking for help isn’t a sign that a family has failed. In fact, knowing when to bring in additional support can be one of the most proactive things a family can do. A geriatric care manager can help families assess a situation, develop a plan, coordinate services, advocate for an older adult, communicate with providers, and navigate difficult transitions. Most importantly, care management can give families something that can be difficult to find when they are overwhelmed: clarity.
