At Generations Counseling & Care Management, our commitment to individuals and families living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia goes beyond the advocacy we provide daily in the Northern New Jersey and Rockland County, New York area. Many of our clients and families are navigating the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease. We understand how overwhelming the journey can be, not only for the individual diagnosed but also for the family members and caregivers who are walking this difficult path. That is why supporting local organizations that raise awareness about dementia and provide invaluable services to families dealing with a diagnosis is instrumental in the fight.
This October, our team was proud to demonstrate that commitment through two meaningful community initiatives.
Walking Together to Fight Alzheimer’s

In October, Generations’ Marketing Director, Laura Huisking, served as the Walk Chair for Alzheimer’s New Jersey’s Northern New Jersey Regional Walk to Fight Alzheimer’s, helping lead a community united by a shared goal: ending Alzheimer’s disease. This event is a powerful reminder that no one should have to face this disease alone. Despite the rain and the less-than-perfect weather, our team showed up ready to walk, raise awareness, and make a difference with hundreds of community members, health care partners, and volunteers.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and our incredible team members, Team Generations raised more than $15,000 and finished among the top five fundraising teams at the walk!
We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment and grateful to everyone who contributed, participated, and walked alongside us. Every dollar raised helps advance the mission to fight Alzheimer’s and supports the work being done to improve the lives of those affected by the disease.
Bringing Dementia Care Leaders Together

Our dedication to the dementia community also extends to education, collaboration, and sharing knowledge with fellow professionals.
Two of our care managers, Janelle Shepherd and Alexandra Oddo, participated in Connecting Care: A Community Conversation on Dementia, alongside other leaders in dementia care at Pascack Valley Medical Center.
This event was a gathering of healthcare, community, and nonprofit leaders committed to improving dementia care in the Bergen County area. Through open discussion and shared expertise, we explored ways to strengthen partnerships, enhance support services, and better meet the needs of individuals living with dementia and their families. We were pleased to have Janelle and Alexandra lend their powerful voices to these important community discussions. Collaboration among healthcare providers and dementia care professionals is integral to improving the lives of people in Northern New Jersey who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
Generations will join ongoing panels and discussions with these leaders to find ways to provide continuous support to our community. We also hope to increase access to programs and services for those struggling to find them.
Our Commitment Continues Beyond October
While October offered wonderful opportunities to demonstrate our commitment to this cause, our dedication will continue throughout the year. Through geriatric care management, counseling, care planning, and advocacy, Generations Counseling & Care Management works alongside families to help them navigate the complexities of changing care needs in people with dementia.
We are proud of our team, thankful for our community partners, and grateful to everyone who joined us in supporting the fight against Alzheimer’s this October. Whether through fundraising, education, professional collaboration, or the daily work of caring for individuals and families, we will make a difference in the Fight Against Alzheimer’s.
